People who wake up early also manage to go to bed early. Due to this, they get a better quality of sleep. As a result, early risers are more productive, positive, happy, and have less chance of lifestyle diseases like obesity, PCOS, diabetes, etc. 

“ब्राह्मे मुहूर्त उत्तिष्ठते स्वस्थो रक्षार्थम आयुष:|” 

As per Ayurveda, “to secure a healthy life, one should wake up early in the Brahmamuhurta.” 

Brahma means the “Lord of Creation.” Muhurta means “time“. Together it means the Time of Brahma (Lord of creation).

Waking up early in the morning and practicing Ayurvedic regimens help to balance hormones, boost digestion, improve concentration, and enhance productivity.

Brahmamuhurta

According to Ayurveda, Brahma muhurta is approximately one hour thirty-six minutes before sunrise. For example, if the sunrise is around 5 am, Brahmamuhurta will begin at 3:24 am; if the sun rises at 7 am, Brahmamuhurta begins at 5:24 am.

Why is it essential to wake up early?

During Brahmamuhurta, the environment is peaceful, and it has the appropriate amount of oxygen levels. Therefore, for better health, Ayurveda suggests practicing meditation, yoga, and other health-enhancing regimens (dinacharya)during Brahmamuhurta hours.

Practicing dinacharya (day rituals) in your routine not only improves your mental & physical health but also sets a good tone for your day. 

To attain physical health, it is essential to keep your mental health at its best. So, waking up early & spending time with yourself by doing yoga, meditation, or walking can help you attain good mental & physical health.

Is waking up early significant even if you sleep late at night?

Along with waking up early in the morning, it is correspondingly necessary to complete 6 to 8 hours of sleep. So, make sure to complete your sleep cycle by sleeping on time at night. 

How to wake up early?

Adopt this habit gradually in your routine. If your regular waking up is at 8 am, make a goal to wake up at 7:30 am tomorrow. Try waking up just 30 minutes earlier each day. Within a week, you will see you will start waking up before sunrise.

What if I cannot wake up in Brahmamuhurta?

Take your time to adopt this habit. Some may take a week, and others may need more than a week to adopt this habit. If it is not possible for you, try to at least wake up before sunrise. Once you get adapted to waking up before sunrise, you can later try waking up in Brahmamuhurta.

How to wake up early?

If you want to be an early riser, you have to start sleeping on time as well.

  • Do not use any electronic device one hour before sleep.
  • Read an inspiring book before going to bed.
  • Keep your alarm away. So, that you have to move out of your bed to switch it off.
