1. Nasya

Nasya is a procedure of putting drops of medicated oil in the nostrils. To maintain health, Ayurveda recommends it as a daily ritual. It not only prevents gray hairs, but it also improves breathing and is suitable for mental clarity. One should avoid Nasya in pregnancy and while menstruating.  

How to do it?

Firstly, lie down in a supine position. Then hang your head at the edge of the bed. Now, put two drops of warm Anu taila into each nostril. After this, sniff the oil and massage the face and forehead upwards. Lastly, be in this position for a minimum of one minute. 

When to do it?

Put Nasya oil inside the nostrils after waking up in the morning.

2. Hair Oiling:

Oiling has a significant role in promoting the health of hairs. It nourishes hair follicles, strengthens them from the root, and stops hair fall. Also, it helps to prevent gray hairs.

There are different Ayurvedic hair oils available in the market. For preventing gray hairs, Ayurveda recommends Bhringraj, Mahabhringraj, or Neelibhringadi Oil. It is readily available on Amazon. 

How to use it?

First, warm the oil. Then dip your fingers in the oil. Finally, massage the scalp gently by applying light to medium pressure.

3. Pitta pacifying diet:

It is essential to follow a Pitta pacifying diet to prevent premature gray hairs. According to Ayurveda, Pitta pacifying diet is sweet, bitter, and astringent in taste. These three tastes balance the Pitta dosha and cure the condition occurring due to the Pitta aggravation. 

Here is the list of Pitta pacifying food items:

  • Rice
  • Okra
  • Mung dal 
  • Bittermelon
  • Ghee (homemade)

On the other hand, avoid Pitta aggravating food items like sour, spicy, and salty food.

 4. Pitta pacifying lifestyle: 

Follow a Pitta pacifying lifestyle that will help to balance Pitta dosha. As a result, it prevents further premature graying of hairs.

5. Hair mask

Ingredients:

  • Sesame seeds – 10 gm
  • Amla powder – 10 gm
  • Licorice powder – 10 gm
  • Kamal Kesar (Nelumbo nucifera) – 10 gm
  • Honey – 2 tablespoon

Take all ingredients and mix them well. Add water to it until you get the paste-like consistency. 

How to use it?

Firstly, apply the pack all over the scalp. Then keep it for half an hour. Lastly, wash off your hairs with room temperature water. Do not use shampoo.

6. Amalaki Rasayana

Along with doing all other remedies, it is essential to consume Rasayana. As per Ayurveda, Rasayana is something that helps to attain longevity and promote health. 

Amla (Indian gooseberry) is the best fruit for all kinds of hair problems. Amalaki Rasayana balances Pitta dosha and nourishes hair. Above all, it restores the natural color of hair and prevents further graying of hairs.
