Is your eyesight weak? Do you feel the strain in your eyes every time you read? Well, the cause behind such problems is continuous stress on the eye muscles. Here are the top five exercises that will help you strengthen your eyes muscle and get rid of weak eyesight.

Many of us suffer from strained eyes after sitting for prolonged hours in front of computer screens. If not taken care of, strained eyes could lead to tired eyes, burning eyes, watery or dry eyes, and headache. To deal with it, it is good to follow the rule of 20-20-20 each day. This is about taking a break every 20 minutes, looking 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This practice will relax the eye muscles naturally. Apart from this, here are the top exercises to strengthen your eye muscles & improve your eyesight:

1. Palming

Palming is closing your eyes with your palms. Practice this every day to improve your eyesight.

Firstly, sit in a comfortable position. Then keep your elbows on the table and rub your palms and place them on your closed eyes. Do not put any pressure on the eyes with your hands. Now, breath deeply and focus on it. Lastly, remove your hands after a while. 

You can continue practicing it for 5 to 10 minutes. It is better to repeat it 3-4 times a day.

2. Round the clock

This exercise involves moving eyes in the clockwise and anticlockwise rotation. It helps to strengthen the eye muscles and improves weak eyesight.

Firstly, sit in a comfortable position. Now, keep your neck and spine straight. Close your eyes and imagine a clock in front of you. Look at the middle of a clock for 10 seconds. Now, move your eyes up towards 12 o’clock. Bring your eyes from 12 to 6 o’clock in a clockwise rotation 10-15 times. Repeat it in the anticlockwise rotation (from 6 to 12) 10-15 times. 

After this, again look at the middle of the clock for 10 seconds. Now, rotate your eyes from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock in a clockwise rotation 10-15 times. Repeat it in the anticlockwise rotation (from 9 to 3) 10-15 times.

3. Shifting

Moving your eyes from one direction to another is a shifting exercise. This is a simple exercise that you can practice sitting anywhere. It is also an eye muscle strengthening exercise. 

Firstly, sit in a comfortable position. Then keep your index finger 10 inches straight away from you. Now, focus only on the upper part of the finger. Next, focus on the 20 feet distant object like a window. Keep focusing this way near and far repeatedly. Practice this 10 times and then relax.

4. Blinking

Closing and opening your eyes rapidly is known as blinking exercise. Blinking helps to improve the blood circulation of eye muscles and release the tension from the eyes.

Firstly, sit in a comfortable position. Now, simply blink your eyes 10-15 times rapidly. Close your eyes and then relax for 10 seconds. Repeat it 5-10 times.

5. Swinging

Swinging reduces the tension from the muscles. Hence resulting in relieving the stress from the eyes also.

Firstly, stand straight and keep your feet apart (shoulder length) from each other. Now, slowly rotate your upper body towards the right side until you could see the wall. Repeat it on the other side as well. Practice it slowly for 5-10 minutes.
