Do you get crampy & painful menstruation? Are you tired of lying down all day on your bed when menstruating? If you are one of those girls, try these fantastic 3 ways to get your periods without any pain & cramps.
Menstruation is a natural process of vaginal bleeding that occurs every month. Each month women’s body prepares to get pregnant, and if there is no conception, the uterus sheds off its lining along with the blood, which is termed menstruation.
There is no pain and cramps during menstruation for some women, while for others, it is the worst day every month. A slight pain with cramps is sometimes OK to tolerate, but you must seek medical advice if it is hampering your day and routine every month.
When menstruation is difficult and painful with cramps, it is termed dysmenorrhea. It may arise due to malnutrition, eating more fast food items, chilled drinks, eating reheated food every day, excessive workout, fibroid in the uterus, etc.
As per Ayurveda, it mostly happens in women with Vata body type. To know your body type, you can download our Android App from the link given below.
Here are the top 3 ways you need to do to prevent painful & crampy menstruation:
1. Hibiscus tea
Hibiscus tea is one of the best options to get relief from painful periods. You can start drinking this tea one week before your expected date and stop drinking once your period starts. If you find any relief, you can continue doing this for three months, and if there is no change, it is best to visit an Ayurvedic gynecologist near you for better diagnosis and treatment.
How to make it?
Firstly, take one tablespoon of dry hibiscus flower powder. Now put it in a pan with one cup of water. Boil it for 2-3 minutes on low flame. Lastly, drink it in the morning and evening.
2. Eat wholesome food:
Eat only wholesome food, and you will see a remarkable change in your symptoms in the next cycle. Include seasonal fruits, vegetables, lentils, whole wheat, local rice, and suitable food items according to your body type. Add ghee to each meal, drink warm water throughout the day, and consume fresh cow milk (not packaged) every day.
Avoid tea, coffee, refined sugar, bakery items, bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks, chilled drinks, etc.
Adopting these eating habits will help you combat your dysmenorrhea within a month. Stick to this for your lifetime, and you will never find any issue with your menstruation.
3. Abhyanga:
Ayurvedic massage is not merely an application of oil to the body. It is a complete therapy in itself. Hence, it is considered as an essential daily regimen of the day.
One of the best therapy to manage painful & crampy periods is giving yourself a full-body massage every day before bath. If it is not possible for you, try massaging your lower abdomen and back at least a week before your menstruation.
The herbal oil improves blood circulation and enhances muscle tone. It reduces the dryness and pain caused due to Vata imbalance. Hence, it is best to use to get relief from dysmenorrhea.
How to do it?
Firstly, heat the sesame oil in a pan with the double boiling method. Then massage your body gently with the warm oil for 10 to 15 minutes. Lastly, take a bath after 30 minutes.
If you are doing only lower abdomen and back massage, you can do it for 5 to 10 minutes every day one week before your period comes.
Many girls suffer from dysmenorrhea and consume painkillers to get relief from the body. Eating painkillers for such minor issues cannot be a permanent solution. It is always better to change your diet and lifestyle and improve your overall health. Bringing such small changes in your routine can help you deal with this condition without any side effects.
